My name is Grady Walton and I created this blog to communicate helpful hints and insights about Christianity and life inside the modern church. My approach is different because I am not a member of the clergy, I speak from the perspective of a person who has spent decades in church congregations. There are loads of excellent blogs, books, and magazines written by gifted ministers of the faith, but I think the time is right to hear more voices from folks on this side of the altar. I hope you will participate in the conversation and encourage others to join us here. I will strive to be candid. Some of the things I say will be provocative, others humorous. I look forward to our time together.

A little background on me, your humble guide/writer. I hold an undergraduate degree in Bible and Theology, Management and Ethics from William Jessup University. I currently work as an employee in the administrative offices of The Salvation Army. Prior to working for The Salvation Army, I was an office manager and an executive businessperson. I have spent many years worshiping and serving in a variety of Christian churches. For fun, I write reviews for the Sacramento and San Francisco Book Review. My wife, Cindy, and I live in Northern California near our family. I recently wrote a book titled, Thoughts Escape Me; Perspectives From the Pew, which can be found at:  http://www.xulonpress.com/bookstore/bookdetail.php?PB_ISBN=9781613791363   It’s also available on Amazon at: http://www.amazon.com/THOUGHTS-ESCAPE-ME-Grady-Walton/dp/1613791364/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310954157&sr=8-1

  1. Hello Grady,
I some how stumbled across your book while working on a project. That was not related to this subject but have had much thought on this. Are you on Facebook? I’m a Christian Firefighter/EMT/Chaplain and would like to share thoughts.

    • Hi Steve,
Yes, I am on Facebook under Grady Walton. Unfortunately I do not get to spend much time on Facebook, though I hope to change that in the near future.
      Thank you,

  2. Thanks for writing me back Grady. If 3questions
What is your favorite book on spiritual warfare and is there is booked you like on the communication speaking. Also who’s your favorite author

    • I like The Bait of Satan by John Bevere. I don’t really have a favorite book on speaking and communication, though I seem to recall enjoying a Dale Carnegie book on public speaking … but that was a long time ago. My favorite author is Tolkien, but I also cherish the humor writings of Patrick McManus
